The name means “blue mountain beach” in Afrikaans, referring to the mountain’s appearance from across the bay. It’s a favourite spot for both locals and visitors, offering a peaceful escape from the city while still being close enough for an easy drive.
The beaches at Bloubergstrand are famous for their perfect conditions for surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing. Strong, steady winds attract water sports enthusiasts from around the world. On calmer days, families enjoy walking along the shore, building sandcastles, or having picnics with the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.
