Tinnitus
What is that ringing sound in my ears?
The medical term for ringing in the ears is “tinnitus”. Although it is possible to have normal hearing and tinnitus, the more likely scenario is that someone with tinnitus also has some degree of hearing loss. Many people with tinnitus don’t think that they have hearing loss, but once their hearing is tested, it often shows some degree of nerve damage.
What can be done about Tinnitus?
Traditionally doctors have told tinnitus sufferers that the condition is incurable and that they must just learn to live with it. Today there are therapies and products available that can potentially help sufferers to manage the condition and that can lessen the effect of the tinnitus.
